Eastbourne’s leading PADI scuba diving club, Planet Divers, were celebrating yesterday at the Annual Achievers Awards, run by the Eastbourne Herald newspaper.

Housing Sectors in Sovereign Harbour

Eastbourne, in common with many expanding towns across the UK, has a number of housing developments.

The bulk of these developments are in the marina area and developers compete with one another to sell the merits of their individual schemes.

There are a number of property sub-sectors within Sovereign Harbour including:

  • Owner Occupiers – Families
  • Owner Occupiers – Empty Nesters/Early Retired
  • Owner Occupiers – Retired
  • Owner Occupiers – Second Home Owners
  • Owner Occupiers – Young Professionals
  • Rentals – Shared Housing
  • Rentals – Young Professionals
  • Rentals – Families
  • Rentals – Social Housing Schemes
  • Investors – Buy to Let
  • Speculators – Buy to Sell for a (Quick) Profit

Over the coming months I will be posting information about each of these identifying which areas of the marina are most suitable for each sub-sector and the pros and cons of each.

So please either bookmark this blog or sign-up for the rss feed (see the ’syndicate’ options to the right) to ensure you don’t miss my local insights.

Rubbing Shoulders with the Underwater Elite

Meeting a group of new people is always a slightly nervous occasion and Wed 21st Feb was no exception for me.

It is said that “you only get out of something what you are prepared to put in”, so I put on some warm clothes and gritted my teeth, as I braved the cold train journey from Eastbourne to the big city lights of London, and specifically the Holland Club within the campus of Imperial College, near to the South Kensington tube station on the District and Circle line.

It’s here, on the first Wednesday of every month, that some of the World’s best underwater photographers meet to share ideas, anecdotes, and socialise in a well-suited subterranean meeting room…

A Warm Welcome to the Marina Life Blog!

Wow!

This has been way too long coming, but at least I’ve achieved one of my New Year’s resolutions (to get a Blog up and running) – but I won’t say which year ;-)

I’ve always loved Eastbourne, Natural History, and have been scuba diving for over six years so it made sense trying to bring all that together in my Blog.

For the last seven years, I’ve lived in Eastbourne’s Sovereign Harbour development in the South Harbour, near to the locks and looking out over the English Channel. This area is still too much of a building site for my liking, but the amount of wildlife, especially birds, has grown in both volume and variety.

The same is true of life in the marina itself. I belong to Planet Divers scuba club which has used the North Marina as a regular dive site for a number of years, and whilst the visibility in there is often poor, the marine life, from crabs, eels, fish, and jellyfish, has flourished.

I hope you enjoy the posts and thoughts here, please feel free to comment, and to contact me if you have photos or stories of interest…

Wishing you health, wealth and happiness in everything you do,

Jon

Marina Property Charges – Know What You’re Getting Into!

Property for sale in Eastbourne marina and harbour

This post isn’t intended to put you off buying a property in Eastbourne’s Sovereign Harbour developments, but as the saying goes ignorance is no excuse and I always think it’s better to have all the facts up front, rather than a nasty surprise later.
